Chapter Nine

The feelings that raced through Szin’s body made his head spin. He didn’t understand the need he had to obey Takeo, but he was through questioning it. Earlier Takeo had worked him with a skill that had Szin ready to shoot. Takeo had the ability to splinter his body into pieces—and he loved every minute of it.

Even though he was tired, sleep eluded him. Takeo snored softly next to him, drawing his attention. Even in sleep Takeo looked deadly. If Szin continued to gaze at Takeo, he’d be hard again. He rolled onto his back and stared at the ceiling as his mind replayed the attack on Takeo. That could have ended with disastrous results. He knew Onfre were aggressive, but Fraylor’s actions in Takeo’s kitchen seem to be over the top for even them.

Speaking of over-the-top actions, he’d actually fired a phaser at someone. Not only that, he upped the strength just to make sure the blast would knock Fraylor on his ass. Hell, he even thought about putting it on kill for all of 2.2 seconds. He hadn’t thought he had a violent bone in his body, but seeing Fraylor threatening Takeo set something off in him.

Now that it was over and he’d had time to think, he was relieved Takeo hadn’t been upset with his interference. The male ego could be very fragile, and Szin had basically saved Takeo’s ass.

Okay, that might be a little extreme. Takeo might have been able to fight his way loose before Fraylor bit him, but there was no denying the phaser certainly tipped the scales in their favor.

Takeo had mentioned he’d experimented so he’d know what Szin would feel when they went to bed together. Szin hadn’t really thought to question that at the time, but now that he understood just exactly what Takeo meant, he was shocked. The idea that Takeo allowed somebody else into his body stunned Szin, even though what happened between the two of them sounded… damn. Sounded bad.

It stirred his jealousy. He couldn’t help but wonder if Takeo would allow him the same pleasure, and it gnawed at his nerves that Fraylor had bedded Takeo. Even though Takeo believed Szin was the right mate for him, Szin still wondered.

He doubted he’d ever understand why the two of them had been paired. With every shred of his being, he truly believed that someone like Fraylor—okay, not exactly like Fraylor—was more appropriate for Takeo.

Szin frowned at the ceiling. Takeo didn’t seem overly concerned about Fraylor any longer, but Szin wasn’t convinced. Someone that possessive didn’t just give up. He barely drifted off to sleep when he found himself deep in a dream, only it wasn’t his dream. It was his dad’s.

It’d been a long time since he’d managed to tap into Dad’s subconscious, and he wondered what triggered this occurrence. Content to watch the memory play out, he stood off to the side.

“What time are Ti and Cielo supposed to be here?” Dale asked Keyno.

“Any minute now.” Keyno held Raiden in his arms, patting him on the back.
